Chile Symposium
I've just got back from Chile where I was at the Simposio de Kayak Pacífico Sur run by Pueblito Expediciones. It's the biggest sea kayaking event in South America.
It is attended by participants from all over the continent and coaches from all over the world. This years line up included: Gordon Brown, Nick Cunliffe, Roger Schumann, Donald Cheyette, Dale Williams, Sean Morley, Santiago Berrueta, Kate Hives and James Stevenson as well as many local coaches, assistants and translators.
The event is based on the banks of the Rio Chaihuin which offers a wide range of venues for different sea kayaking activities.
It has a calm protected estuary for flat water practice...
some nice tidal flow at its mouth for tide race practice...
a fairly consistent surf beach out to one side...
and some great rock hopping to the other.
Its a great event and one I certainly hope to be able to attend again in the future.
